Protecting God’s Grace
The Corolla Wild Horses' survival and continued presence in the Northern Outer Banks area can be seen as "God's Grace" by those who admire and support them. They have faced numerous challenges, including shipwrecks, weather and human development, yet they persist in their wild habitat. My mission is to help support the protection of them through my wildlife photography. My name is Bridget Barker, I’m the Photographic Artist behind the lens. After over 25 years of loving the area and the horses, I am dedicated to capturing the breathtaking beauty of coastal landscapes and the diverse wildlife that inhabits it while using my photos to help protect them. Through world-class photography, I showcase the unique and fragile ecosystems of North Carolina, with a particular focus on its renowned and endangered wild horses. Each photograph serves as a visual narrative that illustrates not only the aesthetic splendor of these environments but also the urgent need for conservation and preservation.
Capturing the emotion and love that has long drawn visitors and lifelong residents to North Carolina’s Coast is my primary goal. With each photograph made, I strive to capture a deep appreciation for the environment and wildlife, my work is an essential expression of the feelings one gets when experiencing the serenity of long walks along the ocean and the magic of the wild and free mustangs living on the shores.
By educating visitors like you, through my art, I aim to spark a deeper awareness of environmental issues and the necessity of protecting these extraordinary worlds. I not only celebrate nature's beauty but also call for a collective action to safeguard our planet's precious and beautiful wildlife. All my photos are taken with a telephoto lens to ensure a more than 50’ safe distance from the horses and wildlife. I strive to educate all those visiting, to respect the horses and not disturb them in their home.

Blue skies restrict more than just the air in my lungs The dream of freedom, it holds since the day I was told I could dance on top of the clouds
There’s nothing more beautiful than finding your place on top of all of the shifting sand folding down the green with bare feet
I wonder if, once, they felt the same Maybe it’s not too hard to protect a somewhere better It only takes the right people to see;
The right people to hope and to dream
To protect what matters most
